No lack of sense of style in villa
The interior tips from Villas
In the television program Eigen Huis & Tuin, Evelyn Struik gives the best DIY tips and in the TV agency Mission Impossible, she shows how you can make an unsaleable house salable. But how does the RTL presenter herself actually live? We took a look at her house in Amsterdam South.
The large wooden door swings open. “Welcome!” Says the cheerful Evelyn (46). Wrapped in a bright yellow dress, the presenter is literally the sunshine in the house. This is followed by a loud bang and the sound of shaking stained glass. “Oh yes, um, that door always does that because it is so heavy”, is her reaction. “Yes, I know, I really have to do something about it. But yes, I really can’t do that myself.
Evelyn may be assisting carpenter Thomas Verhoef in the popular home program Eigen Huis & Tuin; “I can hit a nail in the wall, you can, watch it” and she points to the spot above the couch in the small conservatory. On the wall hangs a series of portraits with images of Saint Mary in all shapes and sizes. “I once received my first Maria print from a man in an antique shop in Sicily. I thought that was such a nice gesture. Then I started collecting them and hanging them up, I just manage to do it myself. ”
Okay, Evelyn Struik is not a real handywoman, but no lack of style sense. This is also evident from the arrangement of aesthetic objects on the classical fireplace fireplace in the living room. Old bottles with pheasant feathers in it, candles in glass jars with golden edges and massive photo frames with beautiful holiday pictures of her children Roef (10) and Liva (7). On the dining table is a vase with yellow flowers. “They come from the kitchen garden of school. My son brings me flowers every week, I think that’s so sweet. I don’t really have green fingers.
Wine boxes
Another proof of originality can be found in the dining room. Against the wall, dozens of wine boxes are stacked on top of each other containing hundreds of books. On the side are the decorative logos and names of beautiful wine estates from all over the world in elegant letters. Evelyn: “I really didn’t drink all of the content myself. I received most of the boxes from the wine shop on the corner of the street. I also bought crates at the Spui book market. Wine boxes serve perfectly as a bookcase. It looks nice and it is super handy when moving. You move your books with crate and everything.
